A Comparison Study of Observed and the CMIP5 Modelled Precipitation over Iraq 1941–2005

This paper presents an analysis of the annual precipitation observed by a network 30 rain gauges in Iraq over 65-year period (1941–2005). The simulated from 18 climate models CMIP5 project is investigated same area and time window. Mann–Kendall test used to assess strength significance trends (if any) both simulations observations. Several exploratory techniques are identify similarity (or disagreement) probability distributions that fitted datasets. While results show large biases exist projected rainfall data compared with observation, clear agreement also between modelled series respect direction period.
